Oslo – Rjukan
210 km
The Artists’ Trail (Kunstnerleden) is a historic cultural route stretching 210 km from Oslo Art Association, located in the city’s oldest building at Christiania Square, to DNT’s first tourist cabin at Krokan by the Rjukan Waterfall.
The hiking route follows the same historic travel corridor used by the first leisure travelers and romantic artists who journeyed from the Norwegian capital Christiania, Europe, and the wider world during the 19th century.
The project work began in 2024 and is still ongoing.
The entire route will be developed so that hikers will not need to bring a tent, as accommodation options will be available along each stage. These will include hotels, farms, DNT cabins, hostels, studios, private rooms, municipal buildings, Airbnbs, and more.
Accommodation details and other relevant information about the route will eventually be published in a dedicated, comprehensive guidebook. Those eager to test the route using only the guidebook can request the early version by sending us a message via our Facebook page, Kunstnerleden.
All other updates about the project work are shared continuously on Kunstnerleden’s Facebook page and Instagram channel.
