DURATION: 2 or 3 days
The topics for the 2-day or 3-day courses are the same. On the 3-day NF Basic Course, the last day is dedicated to reviewing what we have learned. The NF Basic Course is also the first step in the pathway to becoming an avalanche instructor with the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum.

Price per person for 2 days: 3250,-
Registration for the NF Basic Course is through DNT (more info to come).
If the course is fully booked, it is possible to be placed on a waiting list. We will organize a new course if we have 4 registrations, provided we have an available instructor. If you are at least 4 people and would like a different date, please contact us to see if we can set up an extra course.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSES:
The purpose of the course is to increase participants' awareness of avalanche danger and how to handle avalanche-prone terrain. The course aims to provide insight into the conditions, locations, and mechanisms that trigger avalanches. The main focus will be on recognizing avalanche terrain, identifying obvious avalanche hazards, and an introduction to safety practices in avalanche terrain. The course also covers basic buddy rescue using transceivers.
Courses run all day; we typically meet around 09:30 and finish around 15:00-16:00. This means that a 3-day course consists of 3 full days.
WHO ARE THE COURSES FOR:
The courses are intended for those who enjoy winter hiking in the mountains and wish to increase their knowledge to make safer decisions.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED:
Clothing suitable for being outdoors all day in winter conditions
Food and drink
A backpack of 30-40 liters
Ski touring/telemark skis/splitboard. Mountain skis are not permitted.
Avalanche equipment: transceiver, probe, shovel (can be rented from us)
PAYMENT TERMS:
20% is paid upon confirmed registration.
The remaining balance is due at least one week before the course.
OTHER TERMS:
A minimum of 4 participants is required for the course to proceed.
The maximum number of participants in the course is 6.
