Birkelunden Bed & Breakfast

About

Birkelunden Bed & Breakfast – Accommodation with a Purpose
Birkelunden Bed & Breakfast is centrally located in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Rjukan in Telemark. Here, you’re within walking distance of restaurants and shops, while staying in a peaceful setting by the Måna river, surrounded by green areas. It’s an ideal starting point for exploring the destination’s top attractions, including the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum at Vemork, the Hardangervidda National Park Centre, and Gaustatoppen with the Gaustabanen funicular. Rjukan lies at the foot of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau – start or end your hiking adventure with a stay with us. In winter, a ski bus takes you to Gausta – one of Norway’s largest ski resorts. Shops, restaurants, a cinema, tourist office, and Rjukanbadet water park are all within walking distance.

Birkelunden Bed & Breakfast is owned and operated by Arena Kompetanse AS, a social enterprise focused on work inclusion. We offer employment and job training for individuals who need extra support.

We offer a total of 42 beds: 18 double rooms, 2 single rooms, and one apartment with two bedrooms. The apartment and 4 of the double rooms have a private bathroom and a TV with Chromecast. Other rooms have a washbasin and share showers and toilets in the hallway. All rooms come with a fridge, bed linen, and towels included. In the apartment, beds must be made by the guests. All rooms can be booked with or without breakfast. Cooking is not allowed, and we encourage our guests to enjoy the town’s dining options. We have a shared TV lounge and a drying room for sports equipment. Free Wi-Fi and parking are available on site.
