Gaustatoppen Turisthytte

About

Gaustatoppen Tourist Cabin is located near the summit of Gaustatoppen (1,883 meters above sea level). The cabin was originally built in 1893 using natural stone from the mountain itself.

In recent years, the cabin has been expanded and renovated, including the addition of a new café, lounge, and updated restroom facilities. From the cabin and the summit, you can enjoy an incredible panoramic view covering large parts of Southern Norway.

Starting from February 8, 2025, the cabin is open for overnight stays for groups of six people or more. Reservations can be made via email at gaustatoppen@dnt.no.

Smaller groups or individuals may book overnight stays from May 12, 2025, with bookings opening as early as November 1, 2024. See accommodation info and opening dates below, and click the “Book accommodation” button on this page to reserve your stay.

The cabin is staffed and offers food and drink service daily during the winter and summer seasons, lasting through the autumn school holiday. Overnight stays are available by advance reservation only.

The cabin is fully licensed, which means bringing your own alcohol is not permitted, either inside or outside the facility.

Gaustatoppen Tourist Cabin is certified as an Eco-Lighthouse. [See the report here.]

Lunch or dinner can be arranged for larger groups upon request.

We accept cards and Vipps for payment.
