About

One of the biggest known dangers in mountainous terrain is without doubt the avalanche.
Every season the mountain makes us aware of its destructive power.

The lifeless character of this destructive wave does not care what stands in its way; a good skier or a beginner, the avalanche is unmerciful.
The amount of victims caused by avalanches every year should trigger the backcountry enthusiast to be well prepared.

There are many factors that could set off an avalanche. One of those factors carries a large percentage, this factor is called human.
We, as outdoor people, are living and intelligent human beings with the capacity to decide where our next step will be.

With proper training and gaining experience throughout the years we can reduce the risk of getting an unpleasant surprise.

With the raising popularity of the winter world, in special activities that take place outside controlled resorts, the victim list will just rise.
As a skier/mountaineer you should know at least the basics of avalanche awareness for yourself and companions.

Telemark Opplevelser offers avalanche courses during the whole winter season.
It is aimed for those who work and live in mountainous terrain, and those who enjoy the mountains through their sport or adventure.

The course will consist of the following subjects:
* Snow and avalanche knowledge, theory/practice
* Making snow profiles and analysing different snow layers, theory/practice
* Terrain analysis and route planning, theory/ practice
* Searching methods, practice
* First aid, practice
