About

Solstien (The sun path) is a well prepared path from Gvepseborg to Hardangervidda.

The trip starts with the cabelcar, Krossobanen, which brings you to Gvepseborg - the foot of Hardangervidda.

From here, you follow the gravelroad 800 meters. Then there is a stone path the next 1,1 kilometeres, called "Solstien" which ends up at "Kanonstillingen" (the canon position), a culture heritage and viewpoint.

Here you will see parts of the Germans gun emplacements from the second world war, as well as a magnificent view towards Gaustatoppen, Vemork and Hardangervidda.

Transportation:
From Oslo: bus from Oslo to Rjukan town centre. From here there is a local bus taking you up to the starting point; the cable car - Krossobanen.

By car, follow E18 from Oslo towards Drammen - E134 towards Kongsberg, and then RV37 to Rjukan. Drive west, through Rjukan town centre to Krosso and Krossobanen.
